POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – May, 2019 – The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce has named Pompano Beach company Beach Vacation Rentals as its 2019 Small Business of the Year for Tourism and Hospitality. Company president Elaine Fitzgerald received the honor at a Chamber awards ceremony.
“Pompano Beach is truly doing its part to make Greater Fort Lauderdale even greater, and it’s wonderful that small businesses throughout Broward County were considered for this prestigious award,” Fitzgerald said.
Top-Rated, Historic, and Vintage Properties
Beach Vacation Rentals’ unique collection of top-rated, historic, and vintage properties offers quiet retreats and an authentic Florida experience for travelers from around the world. Founded in 2001, Beach Vacation Rentals was among the first to help launch the renaissance of Pompano’s beach area.
“We believed in the turn-around of Pompano Beach from the start,” Fitzgerald said. “Two decades ago we bought distressed properties by the beach and rebuilt them into attractive, fully-outfitted cottages and apartments for short-term rentals to upscale tourists and business travelers.”
$80 Million Oceanfront Renovation
Today, Pompano’s impressive turnaround with $80 million in new oceanfront amenities has ranked it among the best beaches in the world (Money Magazine/May 2018). Within a five-minute walk of Beach Vacation Rentals’ properties, guests enjoy a stunning new oceanfront park promenade with lots of family-friendly amenities, a new state-of-the-art fishing pier, and popular, new oceanfront restaurants that already have become iconic landmarks.
Fitzgerald continues her efforts to improve Pompano today, serving her fourth three-year term on Pompano’s Economic Development Council and serving as Tourism Chair for the Greater Pompano Beach/Margate/Lighthouse Point Chamber.
Economic Stability and Prosperity
When considering the award nominees, the panel of judges wanted to know their personal goals and why they would have a lasting impact on the community. Fitzgerald replied, “My personal goals are to continue to help promote thoughtful public and private development of Pompano Beach and its infrastructure, while retaining its own unique character, for the future economic stability, prosperity, and quality of life for our businesses, residents, and visitors.”
