Story Update on 3/26/20: Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, the Oct. 1 “Real ID” program deadline for U.S. air travelers has been postponed until after the pandemic subsides and airline operations return to normal. The new airport security ID program is delayed during a time when “social distancing” is encouraged, and most local Department of Motor Vehicles offices that would provide the updated government-issued driver licenses and IDs are closed.
