(10/1/16) What’s new in Pompano Beach, Florida? Where shall we begin?
Whatta garage! The city just opened its very first parking garage (photos above and right), and what a beauty right here at the beach! This iconic building looks nothing like a parking garage, with it’s sailboat walls, beautiful undersea mural and evening colored light show. It will house retail on the street level including our first Visitor Center, which is set to open this November. The garage will serve five new restaurants to locate at Pompano Fishing Village – a new “play area” to be built within walking distance of our properties, in an area stretching from the fishing pier to the Intracoastal Waterway.
Check out Pompano’s newest trendy restaurant and bar, The Foundry, with an exciting menu of American and ethnic dishes at moderate prices. Eat indoors or out at the new Harbor Village Shops on Atlantic Blvd., just West of the bridge.
Get set for the groundbreaking of Madison’s steakhouse, right on the Intracoastal, on the East side of the Atlantic Blvd. bridge.
And where to go before or after dinner? Pompano’s impressive new cultural arts building is under construction and set to open in January, across from the newly restored historic district at Atlantic Blvd. and Dixie Highway — at the heart of Pompano’s original settlement more than 100 years ago. It will house a state-of-the-art Broward County public library on the first floor and a 500-seat theater, banquet center and arts gallery upstairs.
